COP 27 Commitments and Achievements
RJ Rose and Son Farm commit to installing solar panels to power farm buildings by March 2023. They will also be cutting out pesticides and using compost extracts to increase soil biodiversity on 10 hectares of land. In 2022, they left areas for wildlife and changed farming practices to increase biodiversity on 75 hectares of land (approx. half the farm).
Bucksum Farm Shop commit to planting cob trees below the reservoir and willow alongside the wildflower acre by March 2023. They will also trial sheep managing herbal lay areas and an ETFE (endlessly recyclable polythene substitute) tunnel and share results. In 2022, they achieved their tree planting target, reduced van deliveries and expanded their Young Growers Club to share skills with the next generation.
Bucksum Farm ShopCommit to investigating getting solar panels installed on site and continuing to enhance the studio’s meadow for increased biodiversity by March 2022. They will install more bird nest boxes, lay metal sheets in the meadow for reptiles, encourage more wild plants, improve hedgerows, build a log pile and better maintain the pond. Where possible, James Ort, the Studio’s manager, will donate 15% of his art sales to wildlife charities. UPDATE: Has quote for solar, meadow enhanced for biodiversity, bird boxes made.
